- 1). Part hair down the middle, moving from the hairline at the forehead to the hairline at the nape. You may choose to part slightly off to one side, for a less traditional look. You may also move the comb in a side- -to-side motion creating a zigzag part.
- 2). Brush up one side of the hair to the spot you desire the pig tail to go, and wrap the elastic band into the hair creating the pig tail.
- 3). Brush up the other side, being careful to make it even with the first pig tail, unless you wish to go with an uneven style. Wrap the elastic band around the hair and tighten.
- 4). Curl the ends of each pig tail. This is where you can get creative and make the style suitable to the event being attended. For small girls, a pretty spiral curl will take this look from casual to fancy. You may also chose to keep the hair straight on the ends, or braid or twist the ends.
- 5). Add ribbons, bows or balls to the top of each pig tail that coordinate with the child's clothing.
