Intern with a fashion company. The fashion industry can be tough to get a start in. There may only be one or two public relations jobs at a design house and at a fashion public relations agency there aren't many more. To get your start, try interning at an agency or for a designer. Interning is a great way to get experience on your resume and make contacts that could help you in finding a job in the future. Sites like Daily Fashion Jobs are well-known in the industry for providing information on new internships that are available. Most fashion internships are either an entire summer long, or have a three-month or six-month commitment. As most American designers are based out of New York, that is where a lot of the internships will be. However, almost every metropolitan city has public relations firms. Search on the Internet for firms in your area and inquire about an internship.
