What composite doors are made out of

If you are looking into replacing your old wooden or uPVC door with a composite door then you're making an excellent choice. Composite doors have so many more benefits over other door materials that you would be crazy not to consider buying one. Unlike traditional wooden doors that are only made out of one material, composite doors are built with a variety of materials, each carefully selected for their properties that make them great for doors, as well as windows.

Because a wooden door is only made out of wood it can warp, bend, split and crack just off prolonged exposure to different weather climates. This means that they are likely to become misshapen out of their respective frames and let in draughts which can cost a lot in terms of heat loss over time. A composite door however has none of these faults as it was specially designed with these problems in mind so that it can overcome them. Inside a composite door is a hardwood inner frame reinforcing for extra rigidity, this makes the door stronger and therefore more secure than alternatives. As well as this, the outer frame is composed of uPVC with galvanised steel reinforcement for added protection so the burglar won't be kicking your door down any time soon.

Up to six times more heat is lost using standard wooden doors in comparison to composite doors; this is because of the air tight frame as well as the injected polyurethane foam core. The bottom of the door frame comes with two weather seals which are used to prevent draughts coming in or letting heat out. This makes a composite door environmentally friendly because the lower your heating bills, the less CO2 emissions there will be, not only are you saving money, you're also saving the environment!

A lot of people like the wood grain look and feel on a door as it looks a lot more welcoming than the standard plastic look of a uPVC door. This is why composite doors have been specially designed with a realistic glass reinforced plastic grained surface that gives the look and feel of real wood, as well as a see through finish so that you can see the underlying colour of the door. The benefits of this cover is that the door cannot warp, crack, split or any of the other problems associated with wooden doors, and best of all it will never need repainting.
