Doing Your Part in Fighting Prostate Cancer

So you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In the following year or two, you will have to undergo treatments that can produce negative side effects that can affect your everyday lives, such as reduce sexual desire and incontinence.
Or it could be that you are in the high risk group, being African-American with family history of prostate cancer and you are approaching 40.
The situation may be bleak and beyond your capacity of control.
Just what can you do to help it? Is it too late now that you are stuck in this situation? The first thing you got to realize is you have the power to change the outcome.
Medical miracle often happen out of human faith and strength.
Approaching your prostate cancer situation from a victim's perspective will not help you feel and get better.
There are a number of adjustment that you can make to your life.
#1 Stop Smoking Smoking men are 60% more likely to develop prostate cancer than non-smokers.
Doctors have found a link between smoking and prostate cancer - although smoking may not cause cancer, the ingredient in cigarette will promote cancer cells to grow more rapidly.
Smokers under 55 with prostate cancer were at a greater risk of having cancer that has spread beyond the prostate.
Now that you already have prostate cancer, it doesn't make much different right? Wrong.
The spread of cancer is even higher in current smokers than in former smokers.
#2 Exercise Exercising can produce a dramatic 70% reduction in the risk of dying from prostate cancer of being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in older men above 65.
No matter how unwell you feel, dedicate some time for a brisk walk.
An intensive case study on a group of men recently diagnosed with early prostate cancer and under watchful waiting showed that men who eat a healthy diet and walk 30 minutes a day 6 days a week have slowed down progression of cancer cells by a whooping 70%.
#3 Taking Oral Supplement - Resveratrol Resveratrol is a the wonder antioxidant and anti-cancer compound that is proven to prolong lifespan in lower level test subjects such as mice.
The resveratrol long term effect in human lifespan is not established due because it is so new, but current research show that it is promising.
Resveratrol is the compound found in red wine.
While it is not possible to drink a bottle of red wine a day, resveratrol supplement softgels can provide the same amount of this powerful antioxidant.
Resveratrol can slow down or even stop the growth of tumor.
High risk candidate and healthy individual can consume resveratrol to prevent prostate cancer.
It contains polyphenols that is a highly effective and safe agent for cancer prevention.
#4 Modify Your Diet This is a broad topic on its own that I talk about in another article.
Generally a primary vegan, low fat diet rich with soy- based products, fish and cruciferous vegetables is ideal for fighting cancer.
#5 Taking Oral Supplement - Omega-3 Fatty Acid Not all omega fatty acids are the same.
Remember that it is Omega-3 fatty acid that reduce prostate tumor growth while Omega-6 has the OPPOSITE effects.
A study on a group of men over 30 years conclude that Omega-3 found in fish oil can inhibit carcinogenesis.
