Recession! What recession? Bespoke designer sofa, manufacturing and retailing designer sofas was delighted by the Quality of visitors and turnover at the Grand Designs Live exhibition at Excel London last week.
An internationally recognised brand of retailers and manufacturers, at the forefront of creating unique living environments with expertise in design of the designer sofa, chairs, corner units, stools, headboards and much more was represented at the event. Combining award winning creativity, this company are setting new standards within the world of the designer sofa.
This design company boasted an anthology of over 10,000 fabrics and leather from the world's leading brands such as Ralph Lauren, Designers Guild, Romo, Jab, Andrew Martin and many more. They also offer the opportunity for the customer to supply their own fabric. The choice of the ultimate designer sofa has never been so great!
All companies reported that their general enquiries from the public where significantly increased. In general companies have been feeling quite apprehensive bearing in mind
the economic situation at present. The event allowed all companies to gain a larger client profile giving a broader platform to show truly unique furniture and design items. One director commented that the event had made clear to him that the public and design professionals had shown over the course of the show that they had a appetite for access to examples of "..a bespoke designer sofa and chairs." Orders were taken for as little as £500 for a buttoned footstool to over £16,000 for corner units and sofas for 3 lounges of a customer's newly built house. The average spend by our customers at Grand Designs for one average size company was £4625.
The Grand Design Live Exhibition was very busy from start to finish. Heaving with both the general public and industry representative a like. Together with all the exhibits, stands and exhibitors, the floor space was fully utilized. There were no empty stands or for that matter spaces to rest in. The whole event was full on and dynamic.
Most of the sales taken were taken around the M25 area, but for one local company generated 6 sales from Ireland and 3 to Scotland. For one design company the exhibition stimulated numerous enquiries , including an enquiry from a renowned hotel requiring about 20 designer sofas and 60 chairs for a refit at their top London Hotel. In addition to the general public enquiries, from architects, specifiers, Interior Designers and independent House builders; together with other exhibiters at the show representative for the exhibitors commented that interest in designer sofas had surpassed all expectations. The company director has already booked a spot for next years' exhibition.
A spokesperson from Grand Designs said: "The fifth successive Grand Designs Live, London show, defied the Recession recording the Best Attendance Ever. As the curtain falls on the fifth successive show, organisers announced that this year's event has been the most successful ever, despite the industry's current economic downturn, with visitor figures up 5% on last year's show with 105,000 visitors, across the 10 day event. Grand Designs Live, London, the UK's no 1 consumer home, interiors, build and architectural show, based on the channel 4 Grand series hosted by Kevin McCloud, closed on Monday (4th May) with exhibitors and organisers hailing the show as a recession-proof success.
