- 1). Contact Child Support Services at 208-334-2479 or 800-356-9868 to request an application form or download and print a form from the Idaho Child Support Services website.
- 2). Complete the application. Provide information about yourself, the other parent and your child or children. List the amount of child support you are supposed to be getting and how far in arrears the other parent is on the application. Choose "all services" from the list of services on the bottom of the application. Sign and date the application.
- 3). Attach the court order for child support to the application. Mail the application to Idaho Child Support Services along with the registration fee. As of 2010, the registration fee is $25.
- 4). Wait for Child Support Services' response in the mail. If CSS requests additional information, get it to them as soon as possible.
- 5). Receive your back pay once Child Support Services has located the other parent and taken legal action to get your money. CSS does not have a specific time frame for completing your case because it cannot tell in advance how complicated a specific case may be. Locating the parent may take time if the other parent has moved, especially out of state. Using the last known address as a starting point for its investigation, once CSS locates a parent, it contacts him regarding his child support payments, but if he does not pay, it may need to sue him on your behalf. The other parent has a chance to respond to the lawsuit in court before the judge can order him to pay or garnish his wages. You may contact CSS by email or phone at any time during the process to find out the status of your case.
