Herb Garden Information - Everything You Need to Know to Grow Herbs

Getting back to basics is something that seems to be really catching on these days.
Many of us are looking for ways to be healthier and save money at the same time.
One of the great things you can do is to grow your own herbs for various purposes.
Here is some valuable herb garden information so you can get started with this exciting hobby today.
The first thing you need to be aware of is that you can grow herbs for cooking, for medicinal purposes, for tea, or just for their beauty and fragrance, or a combination of all of them.
Herbs varieties include annual, biennial, and perennials.
Some are small and compact while other varieties can grow quite large.
These are all things to take into account when planning your herb garden.
Once you've decided which types of herbs you want to grow the next step is to decide where you want to put your garden, you can do an outdoor garden, or an indoor garden.
It doesn't matter where you live or whether or not you even have a yard.
You can grow herbs right on your windowsill if you choose.
Most herbs will require full sun, though some varieties do tolerate more shady conditions.
Herbs need well drained soil so that they don't get root rot and die.
You can easily 'lighten' up your soil.
To do this just add two parts of potting soil with one part coarse sand.
You can grow many varieties of herbs right from seed, though some are better if you buy a plant from your local nursery and transplant it.
I hope this herb garden information has given you some ideas of how to get started.
Growing your own herbs can be amazingly fun and exciting.
Enjoy
