- 1). Cut a 12-inch square bandana into strips 12 inches long and 2 inches wide.
- 2). Whisk 1/2 cup corn starch into 1 cup of cold water in a large bowl.
- 3). Place 2 qt. of water into a pot and bring to a boil on the stove.
- 4). Stir the corn starch and cold water once more before pouring the boiling water over it.
- 5). Continue to whisk the boiling water into the corn starch for about 1 minute. This will ensure that the mixture is thoroughly combined. The mixture will thicken as it cools and act as a heavy starch solution for your bandanna necklace.
- 6). Let the starch mixture cool slightly, until you can comfortably put your hand into it.
- 7). Place all of the strips into the water to thoroughly saturate the fabric with the starch.
- 8). Remove each strip and roll or twist into a tight roll. Repeat with the remaining strips.
- 9). Place the rolls on a towel until they are dry and stiff.

Tie one strip around your neck, or attach the ends together with a safety pin. If one is not long enough, tie two strips together at one end and then tie this longer strip around your neck. - 11
Give the extra bandanna necklaces to your friends.
