- 1). Rinse your hair in fresh water before getting in the pool. It is a good idea to put a conditioner on to leave throughout the duration of your time swimming. The hair absorbs both the fresh water and the conditioner, so it doesn't have the capacity to absorb the chemicals as much.
- 2). Shower after every time you are in the pool. It is very important to rinse out the chemicals that you have submerged your hair in. Shampoo and apply ample conditioner.
- 3). Head to your local beauty salon every six to eight weeks for a Malibu treatment. This is a more intensive treatment for your hair that will strip the chemicals out of it.
- 4). Avoid things that dry out your hair, such as blow drying your hair every day, harsh chemical treatments and the like.
- 5). Get a trim every six to eight weeks to keep your hair's ends from getting too dry.
