They say a picture tells a story or is worth a thousand words, or something like that.
I wonder what this images says about this post? Maybe I was not sure which image would work best for this blog post? Hmmm
I recently started using images in my blog post (last week Monday to be precise) and found they made my blog posts stand out pretty nicely. Since images not only make your website content more visually appealing and compelling I figured Id put together a list of places that you can download or get pictures from easily.
I prefer to use online image banks (the free ones) because they tend to have a ton of images that are easy to find and fit well with my content and also because I like free things too.
When using pictures you find online be sure that you dont infringe on any copyright laws and things like that. You cant just go on to a site, see an image you like and take it. Thats a big no-no. Some photographers and image banks may have terms of use so make you take the time and read and understand these. If you use someones image and you can link back to the source or credit them, it really is nice to do so.
Okey dokey so here are the top 5 sites I recommend for getting images.
1- Flickr.com Not only does Flickr allow you to store, search for and organize your photos, you can find tons of images available for free use.
2- FreeDigitalPhotos.net is a site that I really like. The images are genuinely free and you dont have to register for an account to get images. You can also use their images for corporate work, but you cannot sell or redistribute the images or claim them as your personal work.
3- MorgueFile.com is one of my personal favorites. They have lots of high quality images over many categories so you are sure to find what you are looking for.
4- Bigfoto.com offers pictures from around the world and each of the main categories has subcategories, which makes search for images a breeze.
5- FreePhotosBank.com I really like because you can search from their easy navigation tab on the home page. Their images are high quality and you can even see the ratings on them.
Remember, compelling content images makes you site look more attractive and can help you attract greater levels of interest in your product or service.
