George Washington

George Washington had been a very good leader throughout his entire life.
He had many responsibilities when he first had the idea of a democratic government, not having a dictatorship like most of the countries at his time.
He had to work as hard as he ever had to make this work how he wanted.
George Washington was and still is considered to be one of the best leaders in the history of the United States.
The ones that I will be explaining are perseverance and courageousness.
Also in this paper I will explain some of the biggest times in his life when he had to persevere and also show courageousness.
A few more things that I will be saying in this paper are examples from when George was a kid to people today, and how even after he died it has strengthened and weakened.
George Washington is still called by many "The Father of the Nation," and that is a very big name.
This shows that people have believed and believe that he started the United States.
One of George Washington's greatest qualities of being a leader was perseverance.
George Washington persevered throughout his entire life starting with being self educated after not being allowed to attend school.
In my opinion being self educated takes a lot of patience which means persevering through rough times, and also not getting frustrated after not knowing something.
He wouldn't get frustrated even if he didn't know something or if he couldn't figure something out.
For example it takes a brave person to teach themselves, because if you get stuck nobody can help you.
So if he got stuck learning long division then he can't get any help from a teacher, he has to basically just fight through it and try to get it right.
Also with being self educated you usually wouldn't learn as much or become such a great leader.
Usually you would learn more if you had a teacher helping you or keeping you on track.
You may not become such a great leader because teachers can teach you what's wrong and what's right after knowing basic common sense.
I get frustrated when I don't understand something after a teacher says it, but I can't imagine learning by myself and not getting frustrated.
So George Washington had to read books and use common sense to understand what the book was saying.
For example when George would have a question about math, he would have to read over and over until he thought that he'd understand it.
Another example would be if he was doing multiplication, and if he didn't realize how to make a picture two help then he would ask his mom or brother.
The problem with that was that they didn't always have the answers.
That is how I believe George Washington persevered for being self educated.
Another way George Washington showed perseverance by helping the United States gain its independence by being a new country.
George Washington had to fight in the revolutionary war, had to argue in some ways with opposing countries, and also trying to create a sturdy government.
In starting a new government you have to persevere all of the time, because not everything goes perfectly so you have to change things if it doesn't go perfectly.
The people that were alive back then didn't realize that a democratic government would run more smoothly then a dictatorship.
He was offered to be king, but he denied because he wanted the United States to be a democracy with voting.
Another way he persevered through creating a new government was by convincing a majority of the people that we needed a democracy.
Now a days the United States still can't convince certain countries to switch from a dictatorship to a democracy.
Also when you're trying to gain independence it doesn't happen overnight, so you have to make changes over time to gain that independence.
Finally when you are attempting to gain your independence you have to argue or discuss with a big group of people, and try to convince them why you deserve to gain your independence.
The United States persevering has strengthened overtime, and I believe this for many reasons.
A few are The Great Depression, World War I and World War II.
The United States had to persevere throughout all of these, and to start the United States overcame The Great Depression.
That was one of the worst things that ever happened to the United States, because the dollar was worth nothing basically.
The Great Depression started in 1929 and ended in 1939, and over the time of The Great Depression the U.
S economy was terrible.
Over the 10 years the United States had to persevere and try to get the economy back on track, and it finally happened after 10 years.
The United States persevered through this by trying to keep people with jobs, and also trying to keep the government as strong as possible even if it was merely impossible.
During World War I and World War II the U.
S had to get into the wars when they didn't want to, but we got in and persevered our way through and the U.
S's allies won both times.
For example during World War II we stopped Adolf Hitler from gaining control of the entire Earth.
This took a lot of perseverance because Germany had one of the most powerful armies at the time, and were trying to kill all of the Jewish people.
When we were trying to win the wars we tried to get as many allies as possible, and in both wars we did win the wars with many allies on our side.
So in my opinion the perseverance of the U.
S has strengthened since the time of George Washington.
I believe that another one of George Washington's greatest qualities is his courageousness.
George Washington was courageous over his entire life and he was in many ways.
Also it takes a brave person to fight in the civil war, being in a war is something that you need to be brave for and to be able to fight for your beliefs.
Being in a war means that you are a courageous person, and that you are putting your body on the line for something or somebody that you believe in.
Also fighting in the civil war shows courageousness because we were fighting for our own territory, and it is possible that if George Washington and everyone didn't fight then the United States might be different today.
That is why I believe George Washington showed great courageousness throughout his entire life.
I believe that the United States has strengthened overtime with being courageous.
I believe this for many reasons, and one is the United States now goes into wars to help different countries that they are allies with.
For example going into a country when they are starting to fight within their own country, like Iraq.
The United States was courageous by going in and setting up their own government, and also the United States went into Afghanistan without hesitation like we did in World War II.
So the United States being courageous has also weakened like in World War II.
The United States saw that Adolf Hitler and the Germans were gaining power, but we stayed out of it because it wasn't our problem, but when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor we got into the war because it was now our problem.
So this showed a lack of courageousness by the United States.
The United States also showed a lack of courageousness was during Vietnam, and this was because we went in there to turn them into a democracy.
We had to pull out of there early and never were turned into a democracy, so the United States goal was not reached.
That is how the United States has strengthened and weakened with its courageousness.
