The Essential Bonsai Tools

You have just bought a bonsai tree and have also got yourself a lovely pot to put it in; there is only one question that remains.
Now what? If you are interested in getting started in bonsai but are not sure what kind of supplies you will need to get started, rest assured you are not alone.
It's strange to think that something that appears to be so simple requires so much work.
The truth is bonsai is an art form, and for your tree to reach it's true potential you are going to need to know what the essentials are in getting started.
There are many different tools that you will need to get started to help you successfully groom your tree.
Let's start with the basics.
For starters, you are going to need a good pair of scissors.
Not just any scissors will work however.
You are going to need sharp, durable scissors that will be capable of cutting through the larger branches that you wish to remove or reduce.
A branch cutter is also something you will need to deal with those smaller branches that the larger scissors may seem a little bit too excessive for.
It will be easier for you to deal with the smaller branch cutter and much easier for you to maneuver around limbs that you do not wish to trim.
If the branches are very small, a pair of bud scissors can be very useful as well.
A concave branch cutter is one of the most important items that you could have to aid you in your pruning.
This cutter will allow you to remove a branch completely from the trunk without leaving any of the branch behind.
Because of its precision, it will allow the trunk to heal quickly and properly.
Another tool that is very helpful is a knob cutter, or "nippers".
This tool will help you remove those larger stubs that cannot be severed with just one cut.
Like the concave branch cutter, it will also allow the wounds of the tree to heal with little damage.
Also, if you are using wires to aid the shaping of your branches, then a nice pair of wire cutters will go a long way in saving you from unnecessary damage due to trying to use the wrong tool to remove them.
Using the proper tools to care for your bonsai tree will allow you to further your enjoyment, and will simply make things easier for you in the long run.
If you are truly dedicated to making your tree beautiful, having the right tools on hand is very important in helping you do so.
