- 1). Select the types of cufflinks to place in your shirt. Common cufflink types include hinged-back, T-shape, push-through, chain-link, double-faced, snap-on and push-through.
- 2). Put on a clean dress shirt. Fold each of the cuffs on the sleeve back to show the four buttonholes on the end of the cuffs. Pull the ends of the sleeve cuffs toward your wrists.
- 3). Push the smaller end of each cufflink through the holes of the shirt. For T-shaped cufflinks, close the swivel bar before pushing the bar through the holes in the shirt cuff. Open the T-bar to secure the cufflink.
- 4). Push the smaller end of a mushroom-shaped bar through the small buttonholes of the shirt. The larger or jeweled end of the cufflinks should face the outside of the cuff on the end of the shirtsleeve.
