- The active ingredients in Duac gel are clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide. Clindamycin phosphate attaches itself to the bacteria in the acne, breaks it down and prevents it from multiplying. Benzoyl peroxide destroys the p. acnes bacteria by oxidizing it.
- As the potent ingredients in Duac gel absorb into the skin and destroy the acne-causing bacteria, the acne lesions slowly shrink and heal. Five double-blind clinical studies showed that moderate to moderately severe acne lesions were reduced by up to 65 percent with regular use of Duac gel.
- The benefits of using Duac gel include reduction of current acne lesions and prevention of new ones from forming. Skin begins to look clearer and smoother within four to 11 weeks of use.
- Duac must be used exactly as directed by your doctor or dermatologist. Wash your entire face thoroughly and apply a thin layer of the gel all over your face, making sure to avoid contact with lips, the inside of the nose and eyes. Leave the gel on overnight and rinse off in the morning.
- Do not use any other topical acne cream or lotion in conjunction with Duac gel. If you experience any allergic reactions such as excessive irritation, swelling or shortness of breath, discontinue use and contact your doctor immediately. Avoid exposure to sunlight while using Duac C as it may increase chances of a sunburn. Other side effects may include diarrhea, burning and redness.
