Bay Window Replacing Not a Job for Everyone

If you have a bay window in your house which looks like it has seen better days, perhaps it's time to roll up your sleeves and put on your tool belt.  However, if a bay window replacing job is not your cup of tea, call up your friendly yet trustworthy contractor to help you out.

Although it may sound a little out of the world, the task of bay window replacing is not overly complex so long as you have some basic workman's knowledge and the help of a good and sturdy friend.  Since some home improvement stores carry bay window kits, it certainly makes life a lot easier as you don't need to pick up individual items.  What you will need to do beforehand is obtain accurate measurements of your existing bay window to be replaced.  Consult the store's staff on which kit best suits your requirement.

Basically, the process of replacing a bay window comprises of taking down the existing window.  Removing whatever trims and old fixtures used to secure the old window.  This may also be a good opportunity to repair the old structure by repainting whatever wooden bits, ending with a protective coat of varnish.  When putting the new bay window in place, ensure the support braces are properly installed to avoid any untoward incident.  Check the levels as the windows need to be able to swing open and shut with ease.  Since a bay window is a relatively large structure, installing a misaligned window will prove to be detrimental in time.  Check and ensure the newly replaced bay windows are securely fastened on the interior and exterior.  The next challenge is to install the roof frame on the exterior above the window.  Finish the job by applying the insulation products to the windows and roof to prevent water and air leakage.  Cover any exposed fixtures on the interior and you should have a beautiful and new window.

If the above sounds a little above your normal fare of hammer and nail, it's advisable to hire professional help.  Replacing a bay window high above ground level is certainly not worth the risk of broken limbs and concussions.
