- 1). Create a Declaration of Homestead for your unoccupied property by composing a document providing a full legal description of the property. You must provide the size of the land, the size of the home and the type of home on the property.
- 2). Include the full cash value of the home and a statement that this property will be your primary residence in the future.
- 3). Mail or deliver your Declaration of Homestead to the county recorder's office in the Idaho county where the property is located.
- 1). Abandon the exemption of your current homestead by composing a document stating that you wish to abandon the exemption. Include in your document a sentence that states you no longer wish to utilize your Idaho homestead exemption on this property.
- 2). Provide a full legal description of the property and the date of abandonment. The date you choose as your abandonment date is the date your homestead exemption is no longer effective.
- 3). Deliver or mail your Abandonment of Homestead to the county recorder's office in the Idaho county where the property is located.
