Is Botox The Right Thing For You?

Many individuals would like to reverse the hands of time, especially when it comes to their face.
As the years pass on, people often notice unwelcome changes that were not there in their 20s and early 30s.
Some consider facelift procedures or other surgical methods to minimize the signs of age, but others are not mentally prepared for such drastic measures.
What is Botox? It is a muscle inhibitor, so it relaxes muscles, thereby reducing wrinkles and creases.
The product has been around for decades and successfully used in a number of medical procedures.
Because the treatment has a long-standing safety record, it was FDA approved in 2002 for cosmetic purposes.
Is that it? No, here are some additional particulars.
  • Botox is extremely effective at reducing expression lines.
However, it is not normally suited for people with sagging skin or superficial wrinkles.
  • Crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, and inner eyebrow furrows often react superbly to the treatment and nearly disappear.
  • Botox risks tend to be minimal.
Minor bruising and swelling may occur at the injection site.
  • The smoothing effects of Botox can be immediate, but it may take up to three days to fully see the a change in appearance.
  • Results usually last between four to six months, although some people enjoy longer lasting results.
  • Botox injections can be repeated when the effects wear off.
  • There is little to no downtime following an injection; therefore, people can typically resume normal activities right away.
  • Botox should only be administered by a licensed medical professional.
A qualified doctor will know the correct measure to use so the treated area does not appear unnatural or overdone.
  • Like almost everything else, in the wrong hands, Botox can be dangerous.
  • Botox is beneficial for certain medical conditions like uncontrollable sweating, eye spasms, headaches, and Parkinson's disease.
In situations such as these, insurance may cover the cost.
  • Always inform your physician if you are taking medications or have an allergy to Botox ingredients for your safety.
(NOTE: Botox contains albumin: avoid this product if you are allergic to eggs).
  • Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not receive Botox injections.
Botox cannot miraculously reverse an aging face, but it does offer near-miracle results for certain facial creases, furrows, and wrinkles.
At the same time, it is quite successful in treating various health concerns.
Is Botox for you? Talk to your doctor, he/she can help you decide.
