Are you protecting your backups? If not it is time you consider a fireproof hard drive. The most popular option currently out there is the SentrySafe QA0005. Most people aren't even aware that such a thing as a fireproof hard drive exists, and far too many people are still at a point where they need to experience a heartbreaking data loss before they decide to get proactive about protecting and backing up that data properly.
I personally bought this unit to help in keeping some very important personal files (tax and business information) safe from any natural disaster or accident that may happen, this SentrySafe Hard Drive really feels very secure. All I have to do is connect it using my computers USB port and Windows picks it up automatically. No drivers need to be installed. I have used it on both Windows 7 and Vista systems with no problems. In addition (the point!) this unit came at a price I could not turn down, 250 GB is a perfect amount of space for storing the information that I need to. The SentrySafe Hard Drive QA0005 is solid and a snap to connect. No problems. Thanks and great packaging too!!
As an advocate for the importance of backing up, here are four must follow tips for storing your backups
1. Have more than one backup stored in a separate location.
2. Keep your backups in a environment that is free of moisture and dust.
3. Store sensitive information in a fireproof safe, fireproof media vault, or fireproof hard drive.
4. Make new backups on a set schedule (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly).
Not all fireproof products are made alike. I have learned this from experience and from previously owning safes that were not rated for protecting media / data. Though it may not always be in your best interest to store data directly on a fireproof hard drive, you are still able to purchase fireproof safes that you can keep laptops, cd's, DVD's, usb sticks or other media inside of safely.
