Buying Combination Bathroom Furniture

Whether your bathroom is large or small, if you love streamlined style it could be well worth considering combination bathroom furniture the next time you're planning a refit.
Ranges such as Tabor and Apex focus almost exclusively on the super-practical basin and WC combination unit.
Combining a vanity unit and WC unit together into one neat package, and designed in such a way as to maximise the use of space in your bathroom, a combination unit can be a valuable addition to most bathrooms - but the benefits it gives you could be considered almost essential in a small bathroom or cloakroom.
It rules out the need for a gap between the toilet and basin, and turns every little bit of space you have to your advantage.
If your bathroom's really tiny, it could be an advantage to opt for wall mounted bathroom furniture, which allows you to see more floor space and as a result makes the room feel more spacious than it is.
Floor standing bathroom furniture remains extremely popular for all sizes of bathroom, however.
As you investigate bathroom furniture ranges you'll find that there are a variety of sizes available to complement the space you have.
A 900mm wide combination unit could be the perfect addition to a small bathroom or downstairs cloakroom, while a 1200mm wide item will look more grand and offer additional storage space (the holy grail of bathroom furniture!) for a larger bathroom.
These two are the standard sizes offered by Apex and Tabor; most bathroom furniture ranges will offer something similar.
You may find yourself wondering what the terms 'left handed' and 'right handed' mean - especially if you haven't shopped for a bathroom recently.
The answer is simple.
The term refers to an item that's produced in two mirror images of one design, so that customers have more choice - they're able to pick the design they like and then decide which way round will suit them best, toilet on the right and basin on the left or vice versa.
Another common feature of bathroom furniture is that manufacturers and suppliers offer a range of finishes: obviously we don't all have the same decorating tastes, so this is just good sense.
Combination bathroom furniture is no exception, and while high gloss white is a favourite of most consumers, as it's easy to match and goes with anything, wood tones and colours are also popular.
Apex and Tabor combination furniture features two key colours: white and walnut.
The latter is a striking dark wood tone, as well suited to a neutral backdrop as to a brightly coloured bathroom - take care if your bathroom doesn't have a great deal of natural light however, as dark wooden furniture can make a room seem darker or smaller if used in large quantities under the wrong conditions.
When picking a combination unit, you'll find there are frequently a choice of basins and toilets available, so that you don't have to go with the standard sanitaryware supplied in the bathroom furniture pack.
Picking a basin is largely down to looks; picking a toilet can be done on looks alone but it's worth considering that toilets vary in height and depth.
A taller toilet is better if the bathroom's users will be elderly, or with joint problems, as it will be easier to sit down on and get up from; if the bathroom is short of space, rounded, modern designs tend to be shorter in projection and can save you a valuable few centimetres.
Finally, you may like to choose matching accessories.
Often a range will, like Apex and Tabor, offer a choice of bathroom mirrors (sometimes illuminated) which will match their bathroom furniture.
Picking one of these is purely a matter of taste - but if you do love a coordinated look, the availability of in-range accessories is something to bear in mind from the outset.
