- 1). Locate the assessor's website on the Internet. Most commonly assessment is a county function. Perform a search by typing in the county followed by the word "assessor".
- 2). Locate real property at the assessor's website and agree to the disclaimers that may be required to use the site. Type in the APN. If the APN you have is incorrect or incomplete, you can type in the property address. Follow the directions for typing in the address such as eliminating directions or type of street (lane, road, court, etc.)
- 3). Click on the search button and a page will open with data pertaining to that APN. Details include when the structure was built and facts about the elements of the structure. Data obtained through the page should include roof composition, how many rooms, what the exterior wall is composed of, overall structure square footage, porch and whether the garage is attached. A frontal photographic view is also often provided.
