"Ginger" is one of my rescues from 16 years ago when I lived in New Orleans and ran a rescue from my home for cats and kittens. She was actually a kitten from one of the stray cats, "Sophie," that lived near my moms' home, and Ginger had 5 sisters/brothers. After Sophie had that litter they captured her and had her spayed. Sophie was feral but then not feral as through the years she got bolder and would venture inside their house just to check things out.
Unfortunately, they lost Sophie during Hurricane Katrina. But needless to say "Ginger" was one of the 5 kittens from Sophie's litter that I placed with a good family.
However, a week after they took Ginger they called and had to return her as the woman had allergic reactions and they could not keep her. When she came back to us, my son, who is now 21 years old felt sorry for her and said we had to keep Ginger, so we did and she is the only kitty I have left after all of those years of the revolving door of cats and kittens passing through our home.
My husband and I now live in Florida and I packed her up and she traveled with me in the car for 1000 miles 2 years ago (what a trip that was) hehehe.. She is now my baby and is healthy and happy, as you can see she is the "Queen" of the house. I do dread the day she passes as like all of us she is getting old, but she has been a really good cat and has given me years of loyal, loving companionship, and especially now when I am here in Florida without our son.
