- 1). Review your options and be honest with yourself about your feelings toward your job. When people hate their job, it almost always means they will leave it. It is better to leave to go to another job rather than just leaving the present one because you are fired or simply cannot bear it anymore. Make a long-term plan that involves looking for another job if you are dissatisfied. Taking this action alone can make your present situation more tolerable.
- 2). Deal with any readily identifiable problems. If, for instance, you have a problem with a particular manager, try to discuss this with that manager. If you cannot do this you may be able to move to a different department. Review your own performance. If you have been slipping on matters such as punctuality, rectify this.
- 3). Investigate the possibilities of further training. This can reinvigorate you, and in the longer term can open other doors for you within the company. Be honest with yourself. If boredom has become a problem, ask your manager to increase or vary your area of responsibility.
- 4). Challenge yourself. Allow yourself six months to throw yourself into your job, making every effort to do your best. At the end of this period, review your situation again. Some opportunities may have arisen in this period. You may have rediscovered your enthusiasm, or you may have resolved to seriously look for another job.
