Baby Crib Styles

Choosing a baby crib is one of the most important decisions in a baby nursery, Not only do you want to make sure the crib is safe and secure, but it can also sometimes set the overall style for the nursery.
Cribs come in a wide variety of colors and styles, ranging from traditional to modern.
Many people use the inspiration of the baby crib that appeals most to them as the deciding factor as to what style they will use for the rest of the furniture in the nursery, as well as the overall decorating theme of the room.
They also come in both finished wood models, as well as models, which are painted.
Painted modern baby cribs are perfectly safe, but if you are using an antique or vintage crib, you will want to beware of cribs, which are painted, and have the painted tested for lead before using.
Any crib chosen should also meet all safety standards, the most important of which is making sure that the vertical slats are no further apart that 2-3/8 inches, and that no decorative cutouts exist on the crib that are larger than this measurement as well.
One very popular style is the sleigh baby crib.
These cribs often look beautiful in traditional nurseries, and very often they are designed so that you can convert the crib to a full size bed as the baby grows.
A convertible crib is often the best style to choose, because it can save money on the need to purchase a toddler bed.
In fact, since convertible ones are generally designed to be converted to a full size bed, if you buy a good quality bed, it might be the only bed you will ever need to purchase for your child.
A round baby crib can be a very beautiful and trendy choice for a baby nursery.
The round shape can add a very modern look to any baby's nursery, and some even come with a canopy for extra design appeal.
They can be purchased in a wide variety of wood and paint finishes, and of course will require special crib bedding and a round baby crib mattress.
Because of their rounded shape, this style of this is often quite roomy and comfortable for sleeping, eliminating the chance that the baby will get stuck sideways in the crib.
It's best to even go to the local baby store and preview any of these in the showroom.
