- 1). Mail payroll taxes to the Internal Revenue Service by filling out Form 941, the employer’s quarterly federal tax return and including a check for the amount of your payroll deposit made payable to the U.S. Treasury. The address to which Form 941 is mailed differs by state.
- 2). Deposit your payroll taxes monthly using the federal tax deposit coupon book, which should have been mailed to you by the IRS when you registered your business. Use a coupon with the quarter and the circle for “941 Deposit” marked on it and deposit the amount of your monthly payroll taxes into your bank.
- 3). Enroll in the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). Pay your payroll taxes online through EFPTS each month or each quarter using an electronic funds transfer from your bank or your credit card.
