What to Expect After Leg Liposuction

Like all other cosmetic surgery procedures, leg liposuction requires a time frame for healing and recovery.
In fact, more people are afraid of what happens after the actual procedure rather than the surgery itself.
If you plan on going through with this procedure, here are some of the things you should expect afterward.
If you fit the description of what surgeons call as the "ideal candidate", you may have the liposuction on an outpatient basis.
This is advantageous because instead of spending the night at the hospital, you can relax and sleep on your own bed and do the things you normally do, thereby lessening the physical and emotional effects the procedure would have on you.
Most people report that instead of pain, all they feel after the procedure is a slight tingling sensation or pressure on the leg, depending on how the anesthesia reacts to your body.
If you can't go home after the procedure, either because you have preexisting conditions or complications, then you should be ready for an overnight stay.
People who've had large amounts of fat removed are required to stay in the hospital so they could be monitored by hospital staff.
The more work done to your leg, the greater the sensation you will feel.
The body reacts in various ways and patients who underwent leg liposuction report a number of sensations like temporary numbness, while others say they feel a burning sensation.
Some even say they feel numb at times, then the leg starts to burn, then they feel numb again.
These are normal, and you may even see a little swelling and bleeding on the site where the incision was made.
Usually, doctors will give you a compression garment to wear around your leg after the procedure to minimize the swelling.
The garment is also important as it shapes your leg so that the skin doesn't get too wrinkled or saggy.
When you are estimating liposuction costs, do not forget that the cost of medication and equipment need to be accounted for.
