- For a casual look, French braid half of the hair starting at one ear and braiding across the top of the head. Only pull the hair from the front of the head into the French braid and leave the back hair long and loose. When you reach the other ear, continue the braid until you reach the ends of the hair and secure with a hair band.
Another option is to part the front hair in the center and separate this hair into two sections, one on either side of the center part. Gather the hair on the left side of the part from the ear up to the center part. Pull this hair into a ponytail at the left top of the head. Gather the hair on the right side of the part from the ear up to the center part. Pull this hair into a similar ponytail at the right top of the head. Leave the back hair long and loose and add a loopy ribbon bow in front of each ponytail. - For a more formal occasion, part the hair down the center from the forehead to the nape of the neck. Pull each half of the hair into tight, high pigtails and secure with hair bands. Twist each pigtail into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Add small hair ornaments at the front of each bun.
Another variation is to pull the hair back tightly into a high ponytail and secure with a hair band. Separate the hair in the ponytail into small one-inch sections. Twist and loop each section and secure it to the head with a bobby pin. As you continue to twist and loop the sections, they will fill in a large area at the top of the head with pretty loops. Add a hair ornament at the top of the head, if desired.
Another fun style is to pull the hair to the back of the head and twist it tightly. Clamp the hair with a large clip and allow the hair to stick out from the top of the clip. Pull tendrils out at the temples and around the ears, and curl these tendrils into corkscrew curls.
