- 1). Put two quarts of warm water in a bucket and mix in 3 to 4 tbsp. of liquid Castile soap. Not all supermarkets carry liquid Castile soap, but it can easily be found in health food stores or natural groceries. Pour the insecticidal soap mixture into a garden sprayer.
- 2). Spray the grasshopper-infested plants with the insecticidal soap. The insecticidal soap must actually cover the grasshoppers in order to kill them.
- 3). Apply the insecticidal soap only as needed, because the spray can sometimes kill not only grasshoppers, but beneficial insects such as ladybugs.
- 4). Re-apply the insecticidal soap to the grasshoppers at least three to four times each week. Insecticidal soap has no residual effects, and must be re-applied often in order to be effective.
