5 Reasons Why You Should Hem Your Own Pants

When I purchased my sewing machine I paid about $100.
00.
At this time I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do, mainly because I was very tight on money and I had absolutely no idea on how to sew.
So I did a case study in hopes of being able to justify me buying a sewing machine.
I figured that with every pair of pants or jeans I bought, I would have to spend at least $10.
00 to have them hemmed.
So I paid myself that $10.
00 every time I hemmed a pair of pants.
10 pairs later, I had my money back and had learned a few things about sewing.
Now the first pair took me about 2-3 hours, because I had absolutely no idea on where to start.
I did an OK job; not perfect; but I still loved those jeans.
Now it only takes me about 20-30 minutes and the job is done from start to finish.
If I was to calculate that into money, that would make me $20.
00 an hour! Not bad at all! Now if I can do this, you can do it too.
It's not hard; you just need to be patient.
There are lots of tutorials online today which will show you step-by-step on how to hem your own pants.
So if you are not doing it already, you should get started.
Here are 5 reasons why you should learn to hem your own pants.
1) You will save money.
Initially you will end up spending more, because you will need to buy a sewing machine.
But if you normally have to hem your pants, you will save a lot of money in the long run.
2) You will be able to hem pants for friends and family and make a quick buck here and there.
You'll be amazed at how many people will come to you for sewing needs once the word gets out.
3) You'll learn the basics of sewing which will help to inspire you to venture into more sewing projects.
Eventually you could become a seamstress and work at home and work the hours suitable for you.
4) Shopping will be a lot less frustrating as you will no longer have to worry about the length.
This alone can make up for the time in which it takes to hem them.
5) Last but not least, just have fun.
