- 1). Mix 1/2 to 1 cup lemon juice and 2 tablespoons salt in a non-metal container large enough to dip your pans. If you do not have fresh lemons, bottled lemon juice will work.
- 2). Set your copper pan or pot in the mixture and allow it to soak for 2 to 3 minutes. If it floats, put something heavy in it to hold it down.
- 3). Remove the pot, rinse and dry. Buff to a bright shine with a soft cloth.
- 4). Use the same solution to clean your brass bowls. Brass is often coated with lacquer to prevent tarnishing. To effectively clean the brass, you must first remove the lacquer. Rub the bowl gently with fine steel wool to remove the lacquer.
- 5). Dip the bowl completely in the solution and rub with a soft cloth until the bowl is clean.
- 6). Rinse and dry thoroughly.
