- 1). Write in ink when filling out your money order. Do not write in pencil. By writing in ink, you prevent any changes being made to your money order.
- 2). Write the name of the individual or company that you are sending the money order to in the "Pay To The Order Of" field.
- 3). Write your own name and address in the "Purchaser's Address" field. By doing so, you establish that you are the individual who purchased the money order. Should you have to return the money order and don't have your receipt, you can show ID and cash the money order.
- 4). Sign your name in the "Purchaser, Signer For Drawer" field on the bottom right hand side of the money order.
- 5). Tear off the "purchaser's receipt" stub from the money order. Keep it for future reference.
