As a dermatologist I am always working around people with skin conditions but I always find that acne is the one that causes the most self esteem issues.
As a teenager I had acne and I could not stand looking in the mirror because I hated to see the ugly blemishes on my face so I can relate to how you feel.
But you need to know that you actually are not being told the truth and if you want to get clear skin you should listen to my following advice.

It is a myth that washing your face multiple times throughout the day will keep your skin clean and fresh.
Also if you suffer from acne stop using your cleanser if it contains exfoliating micro beads because acne is very easily irritated.
When washing you want to be as gentle as possible and these types of cleansers take off skin which is only going to worsen your condition.
Stick to a cream based cleanser once in the morning and once again at night for best results.

People tend to overlook their diet when it comes to acne but even more they do not actually know what foods trigger acne.
Bananas and dairy products are more then likely two foods that are in your daily diet right? Well did you know that these foods can actually worsen your acne condition because they contain specific properties that can trigger the release of sebum in your body? It is a good idea to limit these foods and if possible swap to soy products because they contain similar benefits without the added hormones that can spark acne.
