What is a Garden Shed?

As one of the main manufactures of timber garden buildings in Cornwall, we know the main reasons why a garden shed is a great structure to have in your garden. We supply garden sheds to people for various different needs, and in this article we will outline some of those.

For all those DIY projects and do-it-yourself, jobs it's a great place to have as a workshop for tinkering and repairs. It's also a great place to keep all your extra storage that is un-wanted in your home and garage.

A shed is a place you could keep your gardening tools and supplies, fishing and camping equipment, ladders, push bikes and motor bikes. Also when the summer period is finally over and the winter has returned you could store your BBQ's, making sure they are protected from the weather.

For all those water sport fans you can keep your surf boards, kayaks, canoes and small boats, secure and safe for those unfortunate days where you have to work instead of having fun.

At Christmas time your children always seem to get extra toys but your house never seems to get any bigger so why not store them a shed. It's a great place to keep them out of your way but the area could also be turned into a play den / playhouse, so it's also a safe place for the children to enjoy their childhood.

Maybe your kitchen is on the small size and not quite big enough to hold your washing machine or tumble dryer, so an extra room in your garden could also become your own personal laundry room. Or perhaps instead of cluttering your spare room in your home with a rowing machine or treed mill, a timber shed placed in your garden could be used as your own personal gym. This could also save you money on any gym memberships.  With all this in mind, your garden shed suddenly becomes a long term investment.

You may need a room outside of your home to carry out your hobbies, eg, wood turning, craft making, bird watching, pottery, model trains/boats, star gazing or even sewing or even just your own personal space away from the house, free from distraction giving you that all important me time.

A shed can also be used for just a temporary period. If you are involved in a building project for example, you will need space to keep all of the materials being used safe and protected from the weather. Or maybe your moving house and need to keep your furniture somewhere until the sale is complete. You could save on expensive storage bills and have a shed to place all your items in, and after this you could then still re use it your garden at your new property.

Potting sheds are also great to use for your own allotment. They can act as a place where you can mix soil and re-pot plants, seeds and veg and for somewhere to store you spades, shovels and diggers.

Timber buildings can even be used for out buildings on farm land. It would be ideal for storing your hay, keeping your ride on lawnmower and mini tractors in or even a place for your animal / poultry to stay nice and warm.

Adding electrics to your timber structure will enable you to have more of an working environment. You could even change the appearance of a traditional garden shed. Why not try adding shutters and window box's, or even changing the colour of the window and door frames a different colour to the cladding, giving a more attractive appeal.

Make the most of your garden shed and try adding shelves, workbench's, hooks and rack for even more storage!  See our website for our full range of timber garden buildings, or call us on 01209 860269 we are happy to advise you on the best timber building just for you!
