€I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.€
Poignant lines by William Wordsworth that were written when minds and bodies of young children were not imprisoned within the four walls of concrete.
We are well aware of the €Gurukul' system that existed in Ancient India wherein the students would sit under the shade of a large tree while listening to their teacher. The idea behind outdoor learning was to keep the minds and bodies of young children fresh and energized at all times.
Re-discovering Gurukul System
At Discovery Village we understand the importance of outdoor learning for your child and keeping this in mind we organize day tours for children of various age groups. We even prepare customized packages for schools who wish to use our services in facilitating an €edutainment' tour that involves educating the children while keeping them entertained. In fact, schools can also approach us for helping them conduct classes outside the mundane walls of classrooms. We firmly believe that nature plays an important role in the growing years of a child's life because nature makes them question the basic things that are otherwise taken for granted.
Conducting Outdoor Learning
We have a team of excellent facilitators who can fill you in on the activities that are generally conducted during outdoor tours for kids. Teachers and parents alike are welcome to participate in the activities if they wish to be a part of them. There is absolutely no age bar for children who can pay us a visit but it is better of the group consists of children of almost the same age group since huge age difference between the kids may result in the younger ones not getting enough attention. To ensure that all kids get the same kind of attention we divide them into small groups and appoint a team member as a facilitator.
Along with organizing and facilitating the tours we also provide meal for kids but this has to be intimidated to us by a prior request.
Activities to Make Learning Fun
While the learning is full on at Discovery Village we make it fun for the kids by conducting interesting and exciting activities based on the age group of the children. The activities that are conducted are directly related to the learning experience of the kids for that day. Thoughtful planning goes into the development of these activities since physical capability and mental aptitude of the child play important roles in their performance.
Some activities that we conduct are Pottery making, Origami, Magic Show, Puppet Show, Stream Walk and Paper Boating, Energy Zone, Vegetable Zone and Science exhibits. Like mentioned earlier, the activities are conducted keeping in mind the age of the children. For example, we know that children of all age groups will enjoy puppet show but children between 5 and 9 years will understand and enjoy magic shows.
