Even though it's possible to spend a lot of money in Las Vegas, there are also ways to have a frugal trip to Sin City. Planning ahead of time to enjoy some cheap or free activities helps your bankroll last longer. This allows you to spend your money on the activities you want to do, instead of just spending money to kill time in between those activities. - Save some money by using the discount coupons in the magazines you can find at the hotel you are staying at or websites such as Visit Las Vegas. Some of the coupons allow you to get discounted food, others allow you to exchange coupons for more coupon books at specific shopping areas throughout Las Vegas. There are even coupons you can find that give you free money with which to gamble or games to play at the arcades around Las Vegas.
- If you want a break from gambling and sight seeing, grab a seat in the lobby of the Palazzo or Venetian hotels. At these locations you can get free wireless Internet access to surf the web on your laptop, Netbook or smart phone with wireless Internet capabilities. This helps you avoid paying the high fees at Internet cafes throughout Las Vegas or the Internet-access fee your hotel wants to charge you by the day.
- Spend a day walking along the Las Vegas Strip collecting photographs of the various casinos. This can also be done at night to capture the lights of the Las Vegas Strip. Turn it into a game with the people you are traveling with by creating a scavenger hunt list of the hotels around Las Vegas, along with other items to photograph, such as the monorail and the celebrity impersonators that perform along the Las Vegas Strip.
- If you are staying at a hotel with a pool, spend the afternoon in the water. Some hotels don't just have a pool, but an entire complex of pools. Both the Mirage and the Flamingo have a complex of pools that are connected throughout the complex so you can swim from one pool to the other within that hotel's pool area. There are also "wave" pools, such as the Monte Carlo's, where you feel like you are in the ocean, even in the middle of a Las Vegas pool. The Hard Rock Casino has a blackjack table in the middle of their pool for you to play or just watch the action.
