"Twere you on his back, you would wind up as dead.
" The words of the old timer, swirled through my head.
Taking the challenge, as though it were mine, I gathered my gear, stepped up to the line! As my boot hit the leather, touched one trembling side, I knew fear like none other, but determined to ride.
The reigns in my hand, as we raced through the mud, Filling my veins, as with life giving blood.
A ride to remember, though none but me would, This pony of madness, I now understood, Ran like the wind, letting no one get near, For deep in his heart, he lived in great fear! When all of a sudden, one ear splitting sound, Found Madness and I, one heap on the ground.
I thought to clear leather, but just then and there, Old Madness kicked up, and he did find air! We bucked and we jumped, and we spun quickly around, Though never again, did we hit the ground.
For Madness was one, who, when he found trust, Left every manner of evil, behind in his dust.
I felt as his fear, he began to let go, The ride of a lifetime, only so few would know.
The ground that we covered, we started that day, Old Madness and I, would ride hard for our pay.
So many years after, I remember that ride, How Madness and I, got over our pride.
The sun to our backs, as we rode early morn, A friendship each knew, had truly been born! I think that I knew, just after our start, Old Madness and I, would share only one heart
