- 1). Click on the "Start" button and select "Control Panel." Click on the link "Switch to Classic View" if it is not set that way already.
- 2). Double-click on "Add or Remove Programs."
- 3). Scroll down the list of all the installed programs until you find "Norton Anti Virus." Click on it and select "Remove." Click on "Remove All" when a Norton window appears on the screen.
- 4). Restart your computer.
- 5). Click on "My Computer," or "Computer" for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users. Double-click on the drive where you installed Norton. It is typically "C:\ drive." Double-click on the "Program Files" folder.
- 6). Remove all the folders that are named either Norton or Symantec. Click on each and press the "Delete" key to remove.
- 7). Click on the "Start" menu. If you use Windows XP or a prior version, select "Search" and click on "All Files and Folders." If you use Windows Vista or later, the search box will appear at the very bottom after you click the Start menu.
- 8). Type "Norton" without quotes and press "Enter." Delete any files or folders that appear in the search results. Repeat this step by typing "Symantec" in the search box.
