How to File a Company Tax Return

    File Electronically

    • 1). File your company tax return electronically by visiting the Electronic Filing section of the Internal Revenue Service's website, www.irs.gov. This page includes a list of IRS-approved tax preparation companies for you to choose from to electronically file your tax return.

    • 2). Choose the online tax preparation company you'd like to use and click on the link to their website to enter your information. Enter your company tax information into the computer and review the return. Different company tax forms require different information, but all company tax forms require you to enter your company profit or loss, income, deductions, payments and tax information.

    • 3). Submit your company tax return by clicking on the "Submit" button. Your company tax return will be delivered immediately to the Internal Revenue Service via the internet.

    File By Mail

    • 1). Locate the company tax return form you need for your company by logging on to the Internal Revenue Service Web site.

    • 2). Click on "Forms and Publications" and choose the business forms. Choose the form you need to file and print it out, along with the instructions for that form. Fill out the company tax return and make sure there are no mistakes. Use the instructions provided with your form for guidance on what information goes where and how to locate that information.

    • 3). Sign, date, and mail your company tax return to the address on the instruction form. Returns in different states will need to be mailed to different offices of the Internal Revenue Service.
