Moving On Up: Reasons to Ditch Cable and Get With Satellite TV

It can be increasingly simple for die-hard brand loyalists to stay stuck in their ways. And while this might be great for a favorite mom-and-pop burger joint or a particular pair of jeans that just seems to always fit right, there are certain occasions when it makes a whole lot more sense to look at the other choices out there. Most of the time, it is crucial to stay aware of the trends when dealing with technology, which tends to grow and change in a way that is different than beloved local cuisine and fabulous fashion. And in the world of technology, nothing is easier to stay trapped in than one's television connection.

The world of television, while not as obvious in its changing and growing as something like computers or the web, still has managed to leap forward in ways that no one ever thought possible. In just a decade, television went from something that was limited in its scope to something that suddenly changed the way that entertainment options worked. With HDTV sets now capable of handling everything from movie theater-quality pictures to 3D capabilities, it is possible for anyone to have a theater experience at home now that truly does hold a candle to the local cineplex. And with the various ways of getting television service, there have been just as many big changes. Cable companies that might not have jumped on board with the high definition bandwagon are now scrambling to make sure their customers have enough high definition options, while those people with dishes enjoy hundreds of different channels designed to make the most of new technology.

There's more to the world of satellite tv than simply embracing high definition faster, too. For those who are interested in the chance to pick and choose programming rather than being at the mercy of the packages outlined by the company, there are so many more choices available in the world of the dish. Instead of needing to add an entire premium package that might cost a significant amount, customers can actually choose particular channels. There's no "no, you can't do that" response, and the decision to move around the package being purchased also does not result in re-upping a contract with the dish provider, either.

Since technology has a lot to do with the kind of entertainment being offered, it's also worth noting that nowadays, it makes a whole lot more sense to go with the dish. While early pieces of this technology might have had trouble during rainstorms or occasionally came up short with the signal, these days, the technology with satellite tv works better than what cable has to offer. All-new networks mean a reliable signal, and free dish installation means that making the leap doesn't have to add a significant cost. Plus, the price of a dish is comparable to the fee of renting a cable box. So there's no reason to think that the best technology is also the most expensive.

For anyone on a tight budget with a true eye for the finer things, there is no reason to stick with cable when there is satellite tv out there. Getting on board means a chance for more options with movies and television shows, but also a generally superior level of service. It's worth the move.
