- 1). Draw the design onto the luggage tag that you want to use. You can embroider around the edges of the luggage tag, or you can write a design onto the center of the tag, such as a name or design. You can even embroider your entire address. Use fabric markers to freehand or outline a stencil design.
- 2). Place the embroidery hoop that came with the commercial embroidery machine onto the paper stabilizer with a marker. Cut out the stabilizer with a rotary cutter. Peel the stabilizer off of the paper backing and stick it on the bottom of the embroidery hoop.
- 3). Cut a piece of iron-on stabilizer 2 or 3 inches larger than the finished design. Iron the stabilizer to the back of the fabric.
- 4). Fit the fabric onto the hoop, Make sure the outlined area of the fabric touches the stabilizer on the embroidery hoop.
- 5). Place the desired thread colors onto the bobbins on top of the machine. Thread the strings through the thread holes on the side of the embroidery machine. Place one thread at a time through the needle.
- 6). Guide the needle around the outline of the design. Fill in the design with the desired colors. Switch out the thread when you want to use a different color. Finish embroidering the design.
- 7). Remove the stabilizers from around the top and bottom sides of the fabric to complete the luggage tag embroidery.
