The aviation trade consists of private pilots, commercial pilots, military flying, airline transport pilots and flight instructors. For any of these occupations, a pilot's license must be obtained. For those intending to pursue military flying, flight training occurs after applying for the military. Individuals pursing a private pilots license (PPL) may choose to attend a flight club at a local airport. Flight school is where most other aviators obtain their pilots license. These schools vary in size, format and training methods. - Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is consistently ranked as having the number one aerospace engineering program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
