Restaurant Job Tips

Today all around the world we can find many different types of restaurants.
From small taverns, with simple food served in simple settings at low prices and mostly visited by local people and travelers, to luxurious, expensive restaurants serving exquisite food and refined wines.
The restaurants can serve an international menu or can be specialized in preparing certain types of food like vegetarian restaurant, steak restaurant, seafood restaurant, sushi bar or specialized in different national cuisine like Italian restaurant, Mexican restaurant or Chinese restaurant.
Cooks, in order to prepare the meals and waiters to serve the meal on the table are the main profiles required to work in the restaurants, but the most refined ones are looking for host or hostess to welcome the guests, master of the hotel or cashier.
The master of the hotel it is in charge of the "front of the house" as well he is assigning the guests to tables, receiving and recording the reservations, dividing the dining room into areas of responsibility for the servers on duty as well as dealing with any customer complain.
The busboy is clearing dirty dishes from the tables and taking them to dishwasher area and helping the waiter to provide excellent service to the guests.
The sommelier or wine steward is a knowledgeable wine professional, specialized in all aspect of wine service as well as wine and food pairing.
A metropolitan city as Miami is having all kind of different restaurants, meeting the expectations of even the most demanding guests.
The restaurant managers are always looking for knowledgeable, experienced personnel with pleasant appearance and willing to work in a young and dynamic team.
Quality of the product offered to the customers is having a great role in successfully running the restaurant, but in the same time the wait staff is the face of the restaurant, creating memorable impressions to the customer when they go above and beyond to fulfill all the requests.
To work in a restaurant means to be knowledgeable about food, wines and service techniques.
Variety of trainings and seminars are offered from accredited schools for restaurant staff.
Participating in some of them will give you advantage at the interview, self-confidence and better wages since you can apply for the higher positions.
Still trainings can't give you complete profile as a great waiter, sommelier or chef in the kitchen, the experience and recommendations in some restaurants are important and strongly appreciated.
If you don't have it and you want to start a career in some of the finer restaurant don't be disappointed if they offer you a lower position to start.
Without experience you can still find a job in the restaurants, many of them will provide guidance and the supervisors(master of the hotel for the wait staff or the head chef for kitchen staff) will share their knowledge with you and train you constantly.
You just need to show them your positive personality, your ability to perform your duties under stressful situations, your pleasant appearance, your enthusiasm and your strong will to grow in the carrier.
Many restaurants hiring can be found in daily newspapers and you can apply in person.
Also many recruitment agencies are offering their services.
But most used way to find a job it is to apply online.
You need to send your resume, followed by an interview with the hiring person, when you can make an impression with your open and pleasant personality.
