It is hard to know that your pet it is pain. He may whine, limp or cry and you would have no idea what is wrong with him. Veterinarian prescriptions are great, but sometimes expensive, especially when there are natural treatments that act just as well on your pet than the brand-name medications. There are multitudes of home remedies and homeopathic medications that can help your pet.

    Alfalfa

    • Alfalfa is a treatment for both cats and dogs. Give your cat 1/2 teaspoon of fresh chopped alfalfa as a natural enzyme for good digestion. It helps heal allergies, arthritis, morning sickness, peptic ulcers, stomach ailments and bad breath. It cleanses the kidneys, removes poisons from the body and neutralizes acids. It is a great blood purifier and blood thinner. It improves the appetite and aids in the assimilation of protein, calcium and other nutrients.

    Slippery Elm

    • Slippery elm, also known as Juliette de Bairacli Levy's "tree bark's flour" is a nutrient for very young or old cats and dogs. It coats and heals tissue both internally and externally. It treats stomach ulcers, bowels and kidneys, constipation, diarrhea, dysentery and colitis, and the entire digestive tract. Use it externally to treat wounds, burns, rashes, abscesses, boils or insect bites. Given internally, it helps a cat's lungs and helps eliminate coughing and vomiting.

    Homeopathic Medications

    • There are a wide variety of homeopathic remedies available to help your pet’s specific ailment. Aconite 30C treats fear, pain, shock or trauma. Hypericum 200C treats conditions involving nerve damage, especially pain involving the feet. Arnica 30C treats blows, prevents bruising and stops bleeding. Ruta grav 30C helps injury to the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Calendula cream and Hypericum, also available in salves, treat cuts and skin abrasions. Rhus Tox 6C or 30C helps with rheumatism and arthritis. Try to give this twice daily to help your pet get around better. Apis 6X treats redness and swelling such as seen with bee stings or inflamed joints. Chamomilla 30C, or Belladonna 200C works on acute pain, fever or toothache. Colocythis treats colic.
