- 1). Contact your telephone company or landline service provider. In most cases, an automated system will answer the call and several prompts will be provided to get you to the correct department.
- 2). Listen to the automated prompts and enter your account information using the phone's keypad as prompted. Once your information is processed, you will be redirected to a live call center representative.
- 3). Tell the representative that you desire to add the long distance feature to your landline account. There are usually long distance plans you can choose from. The representative may offer a list of these long distance plan options. Once you've selected a long distance plan of your choice, the representative will then complete the technical assessment and configuration to internally add the feature to your phone.
- 4). Use your landline to place a long distance call. Press 1 on the landline keypad. Then, enter the area code and seven digit phone number for the long distance call you want to make from your landline. The call should go through successfully without any complication.
