- The University of Phoenix, a for-profit college with campuses around the world, offers several two-year and advanced degrees at its Clackamas campus, including programs in arts and sciences, business and management, criminal justice, education, health care and technology. The University of Phoenix offers online learning in combination with on-campus instruction and allows students to learn in a flexible way. The college is particularly popular with students looking to mix education with full-time work.
- Clackamas Community College (CCC) offers training courses and AS degree programs in more than 80 fields. The college also offers community education classes and GED programs. As of 2008, around 38 percent of the students at CCC were studying for technical degrees or certification, while approximately 28 percent were participating in the two-year college transfer program, which gives students junior standing in any Oregon State college or University upon completion.
- Pioneer Pacific College is a private, for-profit college offering technical degrees, associate of science and bachelor's degrees. Diploma programs in some subject areas can be completed in 10 months, with bachelor's degrees taking as little as three years. PPC offers bachelor's degrees in criminal justice, health care administration, business management and information technology, in addition to 10 associate degree programs and six diploma programs. The college offers evening classes and allows students to start classes throughout the year.
- Portland State University (PSU) is Oregon's premier state university, located just a few miles from Clackamas. The university has around 28,000 students and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 200 courses. PSU is a research university, which means that faculty conduct research as well as teach, and the university has several on-campus research institutes and centers, such as the Center for Health and Social Inequality Research and the Center for Electron Microscopy and Nanofabrication. These centers provide students with the opportunity to experience high levels of academic work.
