- 1). Consider donating the item to a needy family you know or a friend who could use it. If you don't know anyone personally who would appreciate the gesture, contact the Salvation Army or a similar organization. The Salvation Army has locations within 20 miles of Boone County and can be reached by calling 800-728-7825. You may be able to arrange a pick up of your furniture.
- 2). Sell the item. If your furniture item is in gently-worn condition, consider listing it in your local classifieds or on the Cincinnati Craigslist website at "cincinnati.craigslist.org." You can even give the item away through these outlets and request that the taker be responsible for pickup. Boone County and the surrounding areas such as Newport and Cincinnati also have a number of second-hand furniture stores that buy gently-used items.
- 3). Contact the Boone County Public Works Department by calling 859-334-3600 to request information about how to properly dispose of your furniture. Boone County Solid Waste Management hosts several events that provide free pick up and disposal of bulk items, so you may be able to take advantage of this service.
