The Right Weed Control Measures For A Clean Lawn

Weeds can pose to be a great nuisance if you have a garden or a lawn.  Weeds can create havoc in your garden, hence it is very important to ensure that you try and keep the garden healthy by eliminating weeds as far as possible.  There are a number of organic methods which are safe and do have any detrimental effects on the environment.

Every one of us would like to have a healthy garden with no weeds at all.  It is important to plant the right grasses and plants, so that there is no space left for weeds to thrive. Identify the right plan so that you can prevent weeds from growing.  Go in for companion planting or cover crops, as these are helpful in keeping unwanted plants and weeds from growing.  With the right weed control measures, you can ensure that your lawn gets the desired look.  There is lesser competition amongst the plants for getting the requisite nutrients.

If the soil structure of the lawn is healthy, your plants will surely benefit from it.  With appropriate weed control measures, you can surely add life to your soil; prevent the plants from attracting any diseases.  Just go the green way and adopt eco-friendly lawn care practices.  It is important to note that garden weeds need to be controlled, otherwise they would grow very fast and produce too many seeds which will rob the important nutrients from the water.  There are some simple methods for controlling the growth of garden weeds.  Some of them are effective and easy whereas some of them make use of dangerous herbicides and chemicals.

First and foremost, it is very important to cultivate the soil before you plant the seeds or plants.  When there are too many weeds growing, they will absorb all the nutrients and the other plants will not be able to grow fully.  Also, refrain from digging too deeply into the soil or else the other plants will get uprooted and destroy the roots. Another effective weed control measure is mulching.  There are both organic and as well as inorganic mulching types.  Organic ones include grass clippings, bark chips, use of newspapers and so on.  Inorganic mulching includes use of black plastic.  This is generally not recommended, as the soil is not able to breathe properly.

Weeds can prove to be a great menace to lawn owners.  A gardener cannot just keep investing his time and efforts in removing weeds.  Growth of weeds can be prevented by preventing weeds from growing. There is no room for laziness when it comes to maintenance of your lawn, as it would prove to be dangerous and unhealthy for your lawn. Those of you, who do not have the time, may want to check out for professional weed control agencies.

Many a times, it may so happen, that inspite of our efforts, all the weeds do not die.  Some may survive and start growing.  This is when the use of chemical weed killers may have to be adopted.
