- 1). Counter Harpies' Hunting Ground. This spell card is a popular pick for harpie decks because it enhances the combat abilities of all harpies whenever a harpie enters play. Destroy this effect with spell-destroying cards such as Heavy Storm or Twister.
- 2). Destroy the harpie support cards, Harpie's Pet Baby Dragon and Harpie's Pet Dragon. These cards start off weak, but become increasingly more powerful as more harpies enter play. Do not overlook them early in the game. It is best to destroy them as early as possible, before additional harpies enhance their power.
- 3). Counter harpies' tendencies to increase their attack and defense values. Harpies frequently have special abilities that enhance their attributes under certain situations. Stop the harpies' assault by using cards such as Overworked or Reverse Trap, which will destroy or hurt the harpies whenever they attempt to become stronger.
- 4). Play conservative defense-oriented cards such as Book of Moon and Shrink to counteract harpies' high-attack scores. These stall tactics will give you more time to counter the harpie deck and will simultaneously mitigate the harpies' greatest strengths.
- 5). Play Wind creatures such as Elemental Hero Stratos or Raiza the Storm Monarch. Many harpie decks use cards that enhance all Wind creatures, meaning that these game-wide buffs will enhance your Wind creatures, as well as the opponent's harpies.
