The award ceremony for the 1st original children's fantasy literature "White Whale World Cup",the bonus pot of which is presently the highest among all of the children's literature awards in China, was held in Dalian, on 8th May. Extensive attention was paid by the leader from Children's literature, Publishing and Book industries, to where the total reward price of RMB440,000 will go to. The original children's fantasy literary award "White Whale World Cup", was cosponsored by China Society for the Studies of Children's Literature, China Research Centre for Children's Literature of BNU, and Dalian Publishing House. Whale World Cultural Development Co., Ltd. was the exclusive sponsor for this event. Professor Wang Quangen, Director of Judge Committee and Doctoral Tutor of School of Chinese Language and Literature BNU, made a brief introduction for reviewing process. He thought that the reviewing procedure of "White Whale World Cup" makes unique, innovative and distinctive improvement over other children's literature remarking competitions all over the nation. And it firstly invited young readers to share their opinions with judges. In addition, the committee took blind review for all the participating works before the final round, just focusing on the content, not the writers. Firstly involving Children's literature and Science fiction industries, "White Whale World Cup" encourages the top science fiction writers to participate with their best works. It's proved that China's children fantasy literature may have a bright future only by combining with science fiction and children's literature industries.
The 1st Original Children's Fantasy Literature "White Whale World Cup" displayed the current development and achievements of Children's fantasy literature. The 16 winning-works, with the theme around social reality, children's living status, human's problem and hope, represented an outline of creation level and aesthetic direction of current fantasy literature in China, incorporating fantasy literature into Chinese culture and young children's spirite world, which is really estimable.
"We need to promote the excellent works and reward the winners for the original children's literature", said Shi Yajuan, President of China Children's Research Society, on the award ceremony. "Meanwhile, I'd like to make an important announcement that the Reading Promotion Centre for China Children's Research Society is established in Dalian Publishing House, taking the responsibility for selecting excellent works and recommending them to the young readers and polishing the star in the sky of children's literature."
