Science fiction has since long been a favorite genre with the television audiences with the likes of X Files and several other series making a huge splash on television since decades.
Alien abduction and people being taken away by the aliens have always been very popular, both in real life as well as in the television industry.
The 4400 series from TV on DVD has been released which provides a chance to science fiction lovers to get a glimpse into this series if they missed it on TV.
The story revolves around a ball of light moving closer to the earth which has the capacity to collide with earth and cause a huge damage.
The people from earth try their best to avoid the catastrophe, sending missiles and the likes in the space in hopes of destroying it without any results.
However, the light ball does collide earth in Washington.
The result was that there wasn't a large crater or any destruction left behind but 4400 people on earth were left dazed out.
The interesting part about the series is that these 4400 people had been missing from years, some had even been reported missing over a century ago and have only now appeared.
Another interesting factor is that these people are still of the same age as they were when they went missing.
The story takes place in the year 2004 and the security of US is called in to investigate the strange occurrences.
Tom Baldwin, played by Joel Gretsch is the leader of the security force along with Diana Skouris, played by Jacqueline McKenzie.
Baldwin and Gretsch are given the responsibility of making sense of this entire situation and understanding where these people were all these years and how they came back.
Throughout the series there are also several political problems in the wake of the weird happenings and after investigation these 4400 people are sent back to the society.
Once they return these people find the new society to be quite strange and have difficulties adjusting back to life.
To add to the drama and the suspense, these people now have some special abilities which are not normal like stronger reflexes and healing abilities.
The plot of the series is quite interesting but it was not able to gain as much success as was hoped because of the overall effect of the series.
4400 seasons 1-4 is made up of individual episodes, each of which focus on the stories of one character and how their reaction is once they return back to the society.
The casting of the series is quite good and the acting for most part is quite well done.
Michael Moriarty's performance in the series had received critical acclaims for his performance as the rich man who returns back to earth to find his life changed completely.
