- 1). Take your sheets, pillows, pillow cases, bed spread and any blankets off of the bed. Roll them up into a tight ball and take them to your laundry room or a laundry mat.
- 2). Throw away your mattress pad. Mattress pads are relatively inexpensive and can easily be replaced.
- 3). Fill up the washing machine with the hottest setting of water possible. The hot water will help to kill the bugs on your bedding.
- 4). Pour in a cup of chlorine bleach into the water along with two cups of vinegar. Place your sheets into the wash with your pillow cases. Wash the bedding on the machine's extended cycle.
- 5). Re-wash your sheets and pillow cases when they are finished with one cup of chlorine bleach and regular detergent. Dry as normal.
- 6). Repeat Steps 3 through 5 with your bedspread. Then repeat these steps with any pillows or blankets that need to be washed.
- 7). Fill a bucket with hot water and a cup of bleach. Use a hard-bristled brush to scrub at the mattress. Allow several hours for the mattresses to thoroughly dry.
- 8). Place a new zippered mattress pad over the box spring and the mattress. Should any bed bugs be left behind, they will eventually die inside the zippered pad. Their teeth are not strong enough to bite through the zippered pad.
- 9). Place your bedding back onto your bed when they've dried.
